Message from members

“I was chosen as a representative from Honeywell, who was a platinum sponsor for the event. As a rookie to such an event, I was unclear on how a large crowd could contribute towards an individual’s growth. However, the conference worked out to be very enriching and insightful.

As an Engineer, the event has been very exciting and promising. As a professional, I can see more
opportunities and understand requirements from a company. I would recommend such events to not just mid and senior level women engineers, but GET’s as well. Such conferences fill the void where the academic institutes and companies fail. Looking forward to the next event!”

Deepti Jairam, Lead Sales Support Specialist, Honeywell Inc.

“WE Local Bengaluru was the second WE Local I attended since 2016. What amazed me was the scale and shape that it has taken since then. Be it the quality of interactions I had, the sessions I attended or even the number of participants this year, everything seemed bigger and better. The opening keynote by Sabrina Nawaz, the speed mentoring session and the workshop on Unpacking Unconscious Bias and Increasing Organizational Inclusion, and the Outreach Workshop really stood out for me. The poster sessions were also quite impressive.
One very important thing that WE Local Bengaluru has taught me is that unless you put yourself out there, no one else is going to do that for you. It has been one of the best networking experiences I have had so far and I have met some great women and made some awesome connections. I will cherish this experience for a long time to come!”

Shalvika Patil, SWE International Ambassador 2018-2019

“I look forward to the annual SWE local conference .. and this time for a change it was in Bangalore! It was such a pleasure to see so many women actively participating in this event; some, whose personalities have transformed so well into mature and confident individuals resulting from the rich exposure. Looking forward to the next one!”

Rinita Laskar, HR Director, Emerson India

Affiliate Leader Spotlight
Preetika Hingorani

Tell us something about yourself:
I started my career as an HR Intern in 2012 at Black & Veatch after completing my MBA in HR and am currently working as HR Business Partner for the Power & Telecom Businesses in India. I am actively involved and have also led a few initiatives at Society of Women Engineers, Pune & Mumbai Affiliate.
My short term goal is to become the India HR Director and my long term goal is to become the Chief Human Resources Officer at Black and Veatch.
I truly believe that it is our hard work, the everyday choices that we make and the actions that we take in the direction of those choices that define our destination. Outside of work, I am a diehard Bollywood fan. I love to travel, meet new people and have meaningful interactions with them.

Preetika Hingorani
HR Business Partner, Black & Veatch
Vice President, SWE Pune Affiliate 2019-2021

How did you hear about SWE?
In the year 2016, one of the D&I goals that we had at B&V, was to connect with societies who work towards diversity initiatives.
While I was doing some research on the internet, I read about the SWE conference. I was surprised to learn that it happened in my city – Pune! My first connection with SWE was with the conference event partners who connected me to Rebecca Wheeler. She was leading this event for SWE. Her passion towards SWE and it’s mission encouraged me to take this relationship forward. Rebecca then introduced me to Stueti Gupta who was leading the Pune Affiliate in 2016. I was impressed with the kind of work that the affiliate had done and the development opportunities it gave to women. That was also when me & my team decided that B&V would take the initiative to start an affiliate at Mumbai, which eventually happened in 2017.

What do you like most about SWE?
SWE is a great platform for women to enhance their leadership skills. While it gives us opportunities to connect, engage & learn from others in the Engineering industry, it also encourages us to build a world of difference through the various educational initiatives we do for young girl students in the field of engineering. We also get a chance to mentor young girls and get mentored by the best in our industry!

What advise would you give your younger self?
