Diversity Round Table | December 2024
On December 13, 2024, Eaton, in collaboration with Society of Women Engineers in India, hosted a spirited ICC Meeting and Diversity Roundtable at Eaton’s Pune office. This event brought together professionals from diverse backgrounds to engage in thought-provoking discussions on fostering diversity and inclusion in the engineering as well as technology sectors. Focused on empowering women in STEM, the meeting provided a platform for sharing experiences, challenges, and strategies for building more inclusive and supportive work environments.The event was energetically hosted by Rasika Gargey, whose enthusiasm and passion set the tone for the day. Rasika effortlessly guided the event agenda, ensuring that every session was not only informative but also interactive and engaging.
The ICC Meeting was officially kickstarted by the co-chairs, Neema Nair and Monali Bhaerao, who led an insightful and thought-provoking discussion on the critical topics of inclusivity and diversity at the workplace. Their conversation delved into the importance of fostering a work environment where diversity is not only celebrated but actively encouraged. They emphasized the need for leadership commitment, mentorship, and creating equal opportunities for all employees, ensuring that both women and men feel valued and empowered to contribute to the organization’s success. Their powerful discussion set the stage for the rest of the day, inspiring attendees to think critically about how they can contribute to building more inclusive workplaces.
The event was further elevated by the presence of several esteemed leaders from the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), which included Karen Horting, Executive Director & CEO of SWE; Inaas Darrat, President Elect of SWE; Jennifer Scott, VP of Strategic Partnerships at SWE; and Paul Robichaud, Managing Director at SWE. Their participation added immense value to the discussions, as they shared their vision for empowering women in engineering and the critical role SWE plays in driving global initiatives for diversity and inclusion.
An enriching presentation was delivered by Dr. Darshana Joshi, Founder and CEO of VigyanShaala, who shared her inspiring journey and the groundbreaking work her organization is doing in the realm of women’s education and career counselling. Dr. Joshi discussed the core idea behind VigyanShaala College Connect, an initiative focused on empowering young women through educational guidance and professional career counselling.
The most engaging part of the event was the Diversity Round Table Discussion titled “Empowering Diverse Teams to Thrive with Inclusive Leadership”, expertly hosted by Rinita Laskar and Shilpi Sharma. The session not only provided insightful perspectives on empowering diverse teams but also involved the audience in an interactive and thought-provoking exercise. Rinita and Shilpi led a dynamic sender-receiver activity that demonstrated the critical importance of clear, effective communication in team collaboration.
The discussion ended with the entire audience taking a pledge that they shall lead and empower their diverse teams, thus maximizing their potential.

The SWE Pune Affiliate organized the ‘SWEet Milan’ conference on October 5, 2024, at the Cummins Technology Centre. The event was a remarkable success, featuring a variety of insightful sessions, prominent industry speakers, and an exceptional audience.Key takeaways from the Speakers and Panel members:

The insights and experiences shared by our guest speakers had a positive impact on attendees, as reflected in the feedback received. The SWE Pune Affiliate expresses gratitude to all the speakers for their efforts in making each session highly interactive and thanks to all attendees for their enthusiastic participation, which greatly contributed to the event’s success.
A lively networking activity led by SWE Sponsor Preetika Hingorani encouraged audience members to connect and engage, fostering meaningful interactions among attendees.
The event attracted over 100 women engineers from more than 22 organizations across various engineering disciplines, creating an engaging atmosphere for each session. Attendees gained valuable insights from all presentations.
